By Benjamin Buxton
Amanda Jones (Wildflower), Johnny Whitworth (The A-Frame, “Blindspot”), Drew Powell (“Gotham”), and Vanessa Angel (Kingpin) have been cast in the noir comedy feature STICKY, written by Irish filmmaker Seanie Sugrue who will also direct. The feature will be produced by Sugrue’s Locked in the Attic Productions and Josh Folan’s NYEH Entertainment, with production set to begin summer 2024 in Los Angeles. Jake Weber (“Medium”, Those Who Wish Me Dead), Damian O’Hare (“Pirates of the Caribbean”, Hatfields & McCoys), and Phil Burke (Hell on Wheels, “Dirty Weekend”) are also set to star.
Set against the glitz and grit of Hollywood, STICKY weaves together the lives of several artists, each navigating their own struggles with love, ambition, and rejection. As they chase their dreams in the unforgiving world of Tinseltown, a chilling wave of fear grips the city as the body count of a serial killer on the loose in the Hollywood Hills continues to mount. As the killer looms large, so does the harsh reality that in Hollywood, the pursuit of your dreams can lead to deadly consequences.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring this story to life on the big screen,” says Sugrue. “With this talented cast and dedicated crew, we’re poised to create something truly special that will captivate audiences worldwide.”
Jones starred as the lead in the 2022 mystery/thriller Headless Horseman and had a supporting role in Wildflower, which premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. Jones also had lead roles in the Lifetime movies A Lifeguard’s Obsession and My Diary Of Lies.

On the TV side, Whitworth can be seen as Markos in NBC’s “Blindspot”, and as Cage Wallace in The CW’s “The 100”.
Powell recently completed the features Ordinary Angels, alongside Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson, and The Unbreakable Boy, with Zachary Levi, as well as the limited series “Monsters: The Erik And Lyle Menendez Story”. In addition to his series regular roles on “Gotham” and “The Ponderosa”, he has recently recurred on such series as “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, “Leverage: Redemption”, “Young Sheldon”, “Hightown”, and “Ray Donovan”.
Angel began her career at age 14 as a model, when she was discovered by world-renowned agent, Eileen Ford. Her transition from modeling to acting came in 1985, when she was chosen by director John Landis to play a Russian spy in Spies Like Us. Shortly after she landed roles in Kingpin from The Farrelly Brothers with Woody Harrelson and Bill Murray, and Kissing A Fool with David Schwimmer and Jason Lee. In addition to her film work, Angel starred in the hit series, “Weird Science” on the USA Network.
Weber can most recently be seen as Owen Casserly in the Angelina Jolie-lead thriller Those Who Walk Away and as Colonel Plymouth in Universal’s Thank You For Your Service starring Miles Teller. He’s known for his role as Michael in Zack Snyder’s remake of Dawn of the Dead, and his role as Drew in Martin Brest’s remake of Meet Joe Black.
